VPA Show Rules

  1. Only PVPA members and associate members may exhibit except in children's classes.
  2. Each competitor may make only one entry in any one class.
  3. ALL EXHIBITS IN THE PRODUCE, FLOWER AND FRUIT SECTIONS MUST HAVE BEEN GROWN BY THE EXHIBITORS IN THEIR OWN GARDEN OR ALLOTMENT, except where otherwise stated.
  4. Vases, bowls or jars are to be supplied by the exhibitor.
  5. All vegetables MUST be washed and tops trimmed, except class 6, and may be polished except where otherwise stated.
  6. Exhibits to be staged between 8.30 am and 10.30 am Saturday. NO-ONE EXCEPT JUDGES AND COMMITTEE MEMBERS MAY BE IN THE JUDGING AREA BETWEEN 11.00 am AND 2.00 p.m.
  7. NO EXHIBITS WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER 10.30 a.m.
  8. The judges' decision MUST be accepted as FINAL. On other questions the Committee's decision will be final.
  9. All due care will be taken of exhibits but the Committee CANNOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY ACCIDENT, MISTAKE, LOSS OR DAMAGE.
  10. Exhibits should not be removed before 4.30 p.m. unless they are to be offered for sale, in which case they should be placed on the sales table at 3.45 p.m.
  11. Entry forms and fees are to be lodged  not later than 10.00 p.m. on the Thursday before the Show. NO ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED THEREAFTER .
  12. Should an exhibit be considered to be below standard, the Judge has the right not to award the first or any other prize after consultation with the Committee.
  13. First places gain 3 points, second 2 points, third place 1 point and HCs are awarded ½ point.
  14. The number of prizes to be awarded in any class is to be left to the discretion of the Judge.
  15. IN ALL COMPETITIVE CLASSES, ENTRY CARDS MUST CARRY ONLY NAME AND CLASS NUMBER UNTIL AFTER THE JUDGING ELSE DISQUALIFICATION WILL RESULT.
  16. In the cookery classes exhibitors must use only the ingredients listed in the recipes given in this schedule or risk disqualification.
